Diary of a Quiet Day

Body’s idea for today – sleep & be quiet. Decided to pay attention. Didn’t go to church or AA meeting, tetbut cuddled up and slept most of the day. Paid off though, because when I finally got up at 4 ish, Simon made a gorgeous tea with baked potato, avocado, yummy salad dressing and a sliver of crispy bacon. During the day I had a couple of cups of Tea Pig tea, my new treat https://www.teapigs.co.uk/tea/shop_by_category/cheeky_deals/detox_cheeky.htm.

Feeling completely restored.

This is the end of the first week of Towards Well-Being a year long project run by Fiona Doubleday,  https://www.facebook.com/events/521822181313811/

I love the fact that it has given me a structure to work on my well-being, considering the physical, spiritual, creative and mental aspects of my day. I’m incorporating the things I need to do for continued recovery from my liver transplant last year, development of my creative ideas in textiles and writing, keep fit and walking daily if I can, though no pressure as there are inevitably going to be days like today. Fiona has suggestions for meditation and books to read like the “Moneyless Manifesto” by Mark Boyle (which in principle I have ordered from the library!) to help assess if you are making the most of the least and living the most satisfactory life you can live.

I’ve put a few things on hold for now, like publishing more small books so that I can spend more time helping in our new gardening project here at Glen Estate. We managed to use our Resident Association funds to buy a new greenhouse and attract more funding from Action Earth, an initiative encouraging volunteers to work on projects like ours to improve the surrounding land.

It feels really good to pare things down a bit on a daily basis and leave plenty of room for exercise and meditation which in turn will create energy for the other exciting work.

I love the synergy that is coming from this joined-up activity and it is oh, so timely because tomorrow is my 70th birthday and ready or not I’m trying to stay positive by realising that increased physical limitation is accompanied by spiritual and mental wisdom, at least for the time being.

My best wishes for 2016 and may yours dreams come true!

My ‘very best friend in Texas’ sent me this the other day which immediately touched my heartstrings. I’ve always though of Joan Baez as a soul sister through her music so it is fitting that she should be with me now.
